取Nikka創辦人「竹鶴政孝」名字的「竹鶴」作為商品名稱，以紀念其對威士忌的熱忱及貢獻。「竹鶴」是用余市蒸餾所及宮城峽蒸餾所長期熟成的麥芽威士忌原酒調配而成，香氣十足，喝起來非常的柔順順口。

香氣方面，這款Lagavulin 12 yo 燒烤煙的經典香氣首先映入鼻腔，接著是柑橘皮、覆盆子和桃子麵條的香氣。其後，還有濕木香的味道。
