Ferment was initially released in 1992 and produced by Talk Talk's Tim Friese Greene. The album contains re recorded versions of four songs which previously appeared on a handful of independent 12" EPs that attracted the attention of major label subsidiary Fontana, who signed the band for their debut full length. Catherine Wheel were lumped in
